Shift

What Is Shift

Shift is Aithlo's social, virtual-world layer for riding together — ride your planned sessions in-world and share live multiplayer rides with friends.

Shift is Aithlo's social, virtual-world layer for riding together. It turns your training into a shared experience: ride the sessions from your plan inside a virtual environment, and do it live alongside friends.

A virtual world for your training

Shift is a separate virtual-world cycling client that runs on the Unity engine and connects to your Aithlo account. Rather than staring at numbers on a turbo trainer, you ride through a virtual world — solo or with others — while Aithlo guides the session.

There are two big ideas behind it: in-world play and live multiplayer.

In-world play

Your training plan and Shift are connected. When the coach builds your plan, your rideable bike and run sessions are mirrored into Shift automatically, so a planned workout becomes something you can actually ride in the virtual environment.

That means the structured intervals and targets from your plan come with you into the world — you're not riding aimlessly, you're completing the exact session Aithlo scheduled. To understand how those sessions are created in the first place, see how your plan is built.

Live multiplayer

Shift is built to be social. During a ride, your position and telemetry are shared in real time through the Unity client, so you can see friends moving alongside you and ride as a group. It's the difference between training alone and training together, even when you're miles apart.

Time allowance by tier

How much you can ride in Shift depends on your plan:

  • Free — a weekly time allowance, currently 1 hour per week.
  • Pro, Ultimate and Ultimate+unlimited Shift riding.

If you find yourself hitting the weekly limit, an upgrade removes it entirely.

Where to go next

Shift has a few key areas to explore:

Shift is where your plan stops being a schedule and becomes a ride you share.
